Lots of Events and the End of Council Recess

Dear Ward 5 neighbors,

Ward 5 Week is just around the corner and there are lots of events scheduled where you can connect with neighbors and celebrate all the things that make Ward 5 great. Check out the full line-up below and make plans to join us! It will all start on Monday morning with the Street Designation Ceremony for William Spaulding Way. I’m looking forward to honoring the tremendous legacy of Ward 5’s first Councilmember alongside city leaders and the Spaulding family. Meet us there!

The coming week also marks the end of Council Recess. On Tuesday, my colleagues and I will meet for our first Committee of the Whole and Legislative Meeting following recess, and we have quite the agenda before us. We will vote on dissolving the Committee on Recreation, Libraries, and Youth Affairs (RLYA) following recent federal charges against Councilmember T. White, who chairs that committee. The vote would establish two new sub-committees: the Subcommittee on Recreation and Community Affairs, chaired by Councilmember Frumin, and the Subcommittee on Libraries and Youth Affairs, chaired by me. Stay tuned for the updates surrounding these important steps and what it will mean for our work moving forward this fall.
