Dear Ward 5 neighbors,
It’s no secret that many in the District are struggling to make ends meet right now. Federal layoffs, the longest government shutdown in history, threats to SNAP benefits, cuts in federal funding for essential support programs, and other mounting pressures have put many neighbors in difficult situations.
While we can’t single-handedly turn the tide of these many challenges, I remain committed to doing my part to meet the needs of neighbors. Whether it’s through transformative legislation like the Child Tax Credit, assisting with social services applications through my constituent services team, or hosting events that connect with and give back to the community, my office exists to serve residents.
One small way we aim to ease the burden for District families is through our Annual Thanksgiving Giveaway. This year, my team and I will distribute Thanksgiving grocery bags on Thursday, November 20. Grocery bags will contain green beans, cornbread mix, stuffing mix, instant mashed potatoes, gravy mix, and corn. If you’re a Ward 5 neighbor in need of holiday groceries this year, please reserve your grocery bag here. Want to volunteer to help us distribute? Email us!
